- CityLos Angeles For a whole-home remodel or ADU in Los Angeles, begin with the property record: identify the reviewing agency, existing approvals and any parcel-specific overlays before drawings fix the scope.

Westside & coast
- LA neighborhoodVenice Venice is a Los Angeles neighborhood. Check the address against LA City Planning’s Venice Coastal Zone materials before assuming a coastal review applies.
- CityMalibu Malibu has its own planning and building review. Its Planning Division lists clearance and coastal-development applications; ask which path applies to your property before relying on a generic coastal checklist.
- CityBeverly Hills Start with Beverly Hills Community Development, not a neighboring city’s checklist. Its own ADU guides distinguish site conditions and unit types.
- CitySanta Monica Santa Monica publishes property-planning resources and its own ADU guidance. Coastal review is a question for the parcel, not an assumption about every home.
- CityCulver City Culver City offers a property-owner resource guide and an ADU handbook. Check the actual parcel before treating a design as buildable.
- LA neighborhoodBrentwood Brentwood is a Los Angeles neighborhood. Site grade, overlays and access vary by parcel; do not infer hillside or coastal status from the neighborhood name.

The Valley
- CityCalabasas Calabasas reviews projects through its own Community Development department. Establish the parcel and existing conditions before testing a whole-home plan or ADU concept.
- CityBurbank Burbank has its own Community Development and ADU resources. Match a proposed layout to the existing building record and site before selecting an application path.

South Bay
- CityManhattan Beach Manhattan Beach distinguishes its local ADU guidance from coastal-zone questions. Confirm the address and the type of work with Community Development.
- CityHermosa Beach Hermosa Beach has its own Community Development and ADU resources. Site dimensions and the property’s review context matter more than a generic beach-city template.
- CityRedondo Beach Redondo Beach publishes its own planning and ADU resources. Identify the property and scope before assuming a pre-reviewed design or coastal process fits.
- CityPalos Verdes Estates Palos Verdes Estates has its own planning and building-safety resources. Ask about the parcel’s applicable design and grade context before choosing an exterior scheme.
- CityLong Beach Long Beach reviews its own building and planning applications. Begin with the property record and distinguish interior work from any change to the site or exterior.
- CityTorrance Torrance publishes a local ADU/JADU overview and plan-review documents. Match the proposed work to the existing property before choosing a drawing package.
